CMYC OPEN DAY, Sunday 14th May 2017

As Commodore of Crawley Mariners I am really looking forward to welcoming visitors to our club on our Open Day on Sunday 14 May between 10.00 and 16.00. Do come along for a free taster sail on our beautiful lake - we provide the boats, the helms and safety gear, and will be delighted to show you round our clubhouse and facilities. If you have never tried sailing before, or even thought it could be for you, you may be in for a wonderful surprise, so don't hesitate - take advantage of this opportunity and I'll look forward to meeting you. Of course, this is all completely free of charge, so what have you got to lose?

What time shall I arrive?

Open from 10am - 4pm on the 14th May Crawley Mariners welcomes you, your family and friends to visit the Club, soak up the ambience, meet members and of course, have a sail.   There is no need to pre-book, just turn up on the day and register.   Availability is on a first come, first served basis.

Does it matter if I've never sailed before?

Your first time in a boat? - don’t worry; we have plenty of capable, experienced sailors to look after you.   Once registered, we will provide you with a buoyancy aid and introduce you to your helm.   Specialist sailing clothing is not required, however practical footwear is advised and a warm outer layer, as even on a sunny day it can still feel chilly when out on the water.  If you have sailed before, you can crew a double-handed boat or sail with others in one of our larger boats, the choice is yours.

If children, over 6yrs age wish, they can sail with one of our experienced junior or youth sailors and hear what it’s like to take part in our monthly Saturday Club, our annual Junior Helm Week in August and for our older youngsters, weekends away sailing at the coast.

How will I be able to find out more about the Club?

Sailors really enjoy sharing their boating experiences and Crawley Mariners is no exception. Our members will be on hand all day to chat about their adventures; whether it is sailing for pleasure, racing, cruising at sea, participating in social activities or discussing the courses we offer as an RYA training centre, together with our superb sailing programme.  Have a chat with our Membership Secretary about the options to join the Club. If you sign up on the day you will qualify for a £40 Voucher to put towards one of our training courses. These will be limited to one per family or individual if joining as an adult single member.
