Late Sunday Summer 9 & 10

A sunny day with light and variable south westerly breeze. Only 3 competitors turned up to race. We were one down on duty crew due to a family emergency, but they had let me know and tried to organise a swap. There was a family member swap in the powerboat. Due to the Maid of Kent being out of the water, 2 power boats were launched, one for the start finish line. A couple of buoys were moved.

It was an important race between Alan Carlisle (Laser Radial) & David Fisher (Versa S/H) as they were very close on points, joined by Andrew Keynes (Comet).

There were very competitive starts to both races, in both Alan gradually stretched out a lead, with David & Andrew swapping places a few times. The wind was very variable making for some frustrating sailing. Both races were shortened to just under 45 minutes.

Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves on a pleasant summer morning.

My thanks to duty crew of Mark, Tricia, Neil & Carol for helping the event run smoothly and the interesting conversation
