Informal Training - Adults and Youths/Juniors

From March to November, we run informal training sessions called 'Saturday Clubs', sessions for Adults and Youths/Juniors are held on separate days.

Adult Saturday Clubs are run in the mornings. Our instructors may either sail with the adult participants or guide them from a powerboat. They will address any sailing related question/need; within reason obviously :)

Junior/Youths from 6 to 15 years of age may attend either a morning or afternoon Saturday Clubs once a month. Attendees will have fun in boats and will learn skills in a safe and controlled environment. Parents are encouraged to help making it a great opportunity for the whole family to have a half a day out at the club, including the grandparents who can watch from the shore!

Improvers and Cruise Training Sessions

For those with Level 2 or equivalent, these are informal sessions, which will cover some aspects of RYA Level 3 and RYA Seamanship with the aim of improving your sailing technique and if appropriate preparing you for CMYC dinghy cruises.

This is not planned for 2024.

Race coaching

Details can be found at Race Coaching

Racing is one of the best ways to improve your skills, our races are open to anyone with Level 2 or equivalent. Our experienced racers are usually willing to provide advice before and after a race. The Racing pages provide more details of our racing opportunities.

Cruising

If you are interested in improving your Dinghy Cruising skills it is often possible to team up with one of our more experienced cruisers, contact the cruising coordinator, also check Cruising for more details of our Cruises.
There are a number of Club Members who also sail yachts who would welcome any interest in this form of cruising (see also Social Sailing below).

Social & Informal Sailing

These session provide friendly sailing opportunity for those members who enjoy sailing in company. These include: Thursday daytime sailing, Women on Water evenings and Sunday afternoon sessions. More detail can be found on the Social & Informal Sailing page.

A number of Club Members have enjoyed booking Yacht Sailing holidays together as part of an organised ‘club flotilla’, typically in the Ionian, Greece. If you are interested, please let the Chief Navigation Instructor know via the contact page.
