RYA Day Skipper Theory Course 2027 (day 1)

This course is a comprehensive introduction to chartwork, navigation, meteorology, the basics of seamanship and more and applies to both sail and power. It is invaluable if you are considering taking the Day Skipper practical course to enable you to charter and book flotilla holidays etc.

It is intended to provide this course within the warmth of the CMYC Club House with a qualified navigation instructor and a limited number of participants over the following Saturdays:

09, 16, 23, 30 January and 06, 13 (plus contingency dates 20 & 27) February 2027

In essence the course is designed to be delivered over 5 days (40 hours), with a 6th day for the two exams that require completion to be awarded the certificate, but last year we had so much fun we extended it, so if at all possible please keep 20 & 27 February dates available too.

We will provide all the necessary course books and an instructor. The chart work requires some basic equipment (plotter and dividers) and we can supply this in addition (please tick this option and add it to the shopping basket if required). There will be exercises using the training charts and course materials that you will need to complete at home between theory sessions. We will also provide some milk for the galley, but please remember to bring your own lunch.
