Cruising and Camping at Cobnor
Dates for your Diary 2022:
Family Cruise Camp Weekend 1, Cobnor Estate Fri 20th to Sun 22nd May.
Family Cruise Camp Weekend 2, Cobnor Estate Fri 12th to Sun 14th Aug.
There will be powerboat support on the SATURDAY but not on the Friday or Sunday
Following the success of previous year's camping and cruising weekends, we are planning to run them again this year. The venue is Chichester Harbour and the camping will be in the fields owned by the Beale family on Cobnor point. The facilities are basic. Toilets and showers were closed in 2021 due to the pandemic. It is not yet clear whether the will be fully operational in 2022. The charges are reasonable. Children are very welcome but are the responsibility of their parents at all times. Plan to arrive on the Friday evening, pitch your tent in the field and get your boat ready for sailing on the Saturday. We plan to have powerboat support on the Saturdays. Dinghies are launched from the slipway at Bosham Sailing Club, Cobnor Point. Boats are required to display a valid harbour plaque. These are available from the Harbourmaster's office at Itchenor or online: https://www.conservancy.co.uk/page/harbour-dues-and-charges
If you are planning to come, please book with me (Donal Roche) as soon as possible as we need to know numbers well in advance of the camping/cruising weekends to secure the pitches.
If your partner is not a sailor, there are lots of things to do. There's great shopping and an Art Gallery a few miles drive away at Chichester; also there are lovely walks around the Chichester Harbour area. https://www.conservancy.co.uk/page/Walking
How to book:
A reminder is sent out before each cruise. You phone or email me to book a place the Wednesday before, by 9pm. If you would like extra support; to crew for someone; someone to crew for you, let me know when you book. If you have booked on the cruise and it needs to be cancelled, you will be notified on the Friday before by 9pm.
