Social and Informal Sailing

Thursday sailing

This provides a friendly daytime sailing opportunity for those members who enjoy sailing in company. Sessions run most weeks from mid April to October, check the programme for dates. The aim is to be on the water from around 10:30 to finish no later than mid-afternoon.  At times there may also be powerboat support subject to an appropriately qualified person being available to helm it, but this will not always be the case.

This is an informal event for anyone who is available during the day on Thursdays. Experiment with your rigging, perhaps pick up tips from others and have an enjoyable sail around Hedgecourt. Thursday Sailing is above all an opportunity to enjoy Hedgecourt in company when it is not being used for organised racing.

Women on Water (WoW)

Dates: 19 April, 24 May, 14 June, 12 July, 16 August 2024

Crawley Mariners Ladies meet in the summer months once a month on Friday evenings for a social sail.

We have lots of different types of sailors, many of them are looking to improve their skills and/ or confidence. Some new members who like to continue their practice following the RYA course, some who have been members for many years but did not get out on the water for a while and some mums of youth sailors who are too busy getting their kids ready or volunteer on Saturday clubs that time runs out to get on the water themselves.

There is no formal training during these evenings but lots of friendly competent sailors, who are happy to share their knowledge and experience.

Before darkness we return to shore, de-rig the boats and sometimes have a bite to eat and a natter.

So, if you’re a Crawley Mariners lady, who’d like to brush up on her skills, come along and find out more about it.

Weekend Social Sailing Afternoons

Sunday afternoons: 2 June, 30 June, 14 July, 4 August, 8 September 2024

Saturday afternoon: 31 August 2024

On these afternoons there will be a powerboat in attendance to give support to those less experienced sailors who might otherwise lack confidence to venture out.

These sessions run concurrently with Have A Go Racing sessions, which are relaxed and informal sessions - why not give it a try!

NB: If there is no-one racing or rigging by 3pm the PB Crew will stand down.

Club Yacht Flotilla Cruising

A number of CMYC members have enjoyed booking Yacht Sailing holidays together as part of an organised ‘club flotilla’, typically in the Ionian, Greece. If you are interested, please contact Chief Navigation Instructor via the contact page.
