Dinghy Racing on the Sussex Coast
Racing at Lancing Sailing Club
CMYC has a long tradition of racing on the sea though this has been in decline in recent years. It remains in our calendar however and we have two dates this year when we can join in with our friends from Lancing SC for a different and exhilarating type of sailing.
The dates are:
6th July 2019 TBC Training and sailing on the sea. Not specifically a racing event but intended as a preparatory day for dinghy racing on the sea.
15th Sept 2019, Barts Bash followed by Beaches Battle of Beaches 3. Two races back to back. Come and support the Andrew Simpson foundation for the annual Bart's Bash Race then and then more racing off the beach. We should be joined by a fleet from Shoreham SC and so have lots of boats on the water. 11.00 start. Racing is followed by a BBQ back at Lancing.
Pre registration is not necessary but please let me know if you intend to come as it helps to have an idea of numbers.
Sailing at Lancing is a great experience and is very different from Hedgecourt Lake. It is great fun sailing in the waves. There will be plenty of people to assist with boats and trolleys on the beach. Do come.
Tip ; If you are not used to sailing in the lumpy stuff remember IT DOES NOT PAY TO PINCH. I know it works at Hedgecourt but on the sea you will be slow or worse end up "in irons".
Lancing Sailing Club is at the bottom of Shopsdam Road South Lancing. The lane down to the club is narrow and it is best to unhitch your boat at the top of the lane and pull it down to the beach. There is street parking and also a large car-park on the green.

Toppers and Lasers will be especially welcome as Lancing has fleets of both but do come along whatever you sail. It is a very friendly and well organised club with good shoreside facilities. You will meet new sailing friends and should have a great day on the water.
